The Pskov City Court sentenced 68-year-old Margarita Polevaya to a fine of 300 thousand rubles due to donations from FBK, SOTAvision reports .
Because of three transfers of 300 rubles each, she was found guilty of financing extremist activities (Part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code).
The prosecutor requested a four-year suspended sentence for Polevaya.
Because of the criminal case, the pensioner was included in the list of “terrorists and extremists.”
“In the 21st century, living without bank transfers is extremely problematic. Even to receive a pension, she [Polevoy] needs to go to the bank twice and sign an agreement to receive <...> You can be removed from this list only a year after your criminal record is cleared,” the defense lawyer said in court.
Polevaya herself admitted guilt and in her final speech also spoke about the difficulties due to inclusion in the Rosfinmonitoring list:
“When I went to the bank to withdraw my pension, I felt bad on the way there, I don’t even understand why. This is my money, why should I receive it like that? <…> And what I did then, well, yes, it was stupid. Regarding the fact that I am somehow connected with this organization - no, that was not the case. I ask for mercy."
