Media: Putin disappointed with slow progress in Ukraine

European leaders were urged to prepare for new threats from Russia. The Kremlin may expand its aggressive energy policy beyond Ukraine in an attempt to destabilize NATO, Semafor Exclusive reports .

The publication refers to a report by former CIA analyst and now senior threat intelligence analyst at Recorded Future Chelsea Sederbaum. The document says that Vladimir Putin was disappointed with how slowly the Russian army was advancing across Ukraine. Because of this, Russian authorities are considering new possibilities for escalation.

At the same time, as Sederbaum noted, it is unlikely that the Kremlin will decide on large-scale bombing of Europe, which Ukraine has been subjected to since the beginning of the war. We are talking about massive cyber attacks organized in several regions of the European energy system at once.

According to the expert, Russia can stage demonstration flights of combat drones in the sky over critical objects. It is also possible that the Kremlin will engage in coordinated digital disinformation campaigns to create a sense of vulnerability among NATO members.

At the same time, as Semafor Exclusive writes, Putin is pessimistic about the chances of improving relations with the United States. The Russian leadership allegedly believes that political conditions are not in the Kremlin’s favor.

The Agency also writes that Putin has lost optimism from contacts with the administration of US President Donald Trump. Last year, the head of the Kremlin spoke about hopes from the start of negotiations with the American administration. This year, during a speech at an FSB board, Putin spoke about the “nuclear component” that Ukraine, according to him, intends to use.

“Well, the media has probably already started talking about their intention to use even some kind of nuclear component. They probably understand how this could end,” Putin said.

Before his speech, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that Great Britain and France were allegedly working to resolve issues related to the provision of nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
