The UK will begin issuing a new type of visa

The UK authorities are moving to a new type of tourist and visitor visas. Instead of paper visas, guests of the country and people flying through British airports in transit will be issued visas in electronic format, according to the website of the country's visa center.

“From February 25, 2026, you may not receive a vignette (visa sticker in your passport). This is because e-visas (a digital record of your identity and immigration status) replace vignettes. Instead, you will need to create a UKVI account and access your e-Visa to see your approval before traveling to the UK,” says the UK Visa Centre.

At the same time, the procedure for submitting documents for obtaining a visa does not change, notes the “Fly Away” telegram channel. A visit to the visa center to submit biometrics remains mandatory. However, the UK is not completely abandoning the issuance of stick-in paper visas. Formally, both options: vignettes and electronic visas will coexist in the legal field.

Over the past two years, the country has tripled the number of visa refusals for Russians. According to the official UK government website, 92% of visa applications from Russian citizens were approved, while back in 2023 the number of entry permits was 77%. The UK has not introduced any entry restrictions for tourists from Russia.

Earlier it became known that from March 1, 2026, the cost of an exit visa to Egypt will rise to $30. New rules apply to those arriving at international airports in Cairo, Hurghada and Mediterranean cities. There, upon arrival, tourists will be given two stamps - one with a face value of 25 dollars and an additional one with a face value of 5 dollars.
