A criminal case on so-called fakes about the Russian army against Pskov politician and deputy chairman of Yabloko Lev Shlosberg was opened in connection with the repost of the Echo publication with the front page of the British newspaper Daily Mirror. Mediazona drew attention to this. Journalists refer to the appeal ruling of the Pskov Regional Court, which considered Shlosberg’s complaint about extending the term of detention in a pre-trial detention center.
According to court records, on February 25, 2022, Schlosberg published a post with a newspaper cover depicting a bloodied woman and Putin. We are talking about a repost from the Echo of Moscow telegram channel. The message from Schlosberg’s telegram was deleted in December 2025, and the Echo of Moscow telegram channel ceased operation in 2022 after the decision to liquidate the editorial office.
According to Schlosberg, the investigation did not prove that it was he who made the publication. His defense also points out that the post was made before the article on fakes about the Russian army appeared in the Criminal Code.
Lev Shlosberg was sent to a pre-trial detention center on the case of fakes on December 5, 2025. Before that, he was under house arrest on charges of repeatedly discrediting the Russian army, which was brought up due to debates with historian Yuri Pivovarov. A month earlier, Schlosberg was sentenced to 420 hours of compulsory labor in a case of failure to fulfill the duties of a “foreign agent.”
