Iran threatens Trump with death

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani responded to threats from US President Donald Trump. He said the Iranians were not afraid of “empty threats” and advised the American leader to fear death himself. He published a message to Trump on the social network X.

“The Iranian people are not afraid of your empty threats. Those more powerful than you could not destroy it. So be careful not to die yourself,” Larijani wrote.

He attached a screenshot of Trump's recent post on Truth Social to the post. In it, the American president threatened that the United States could increase strikes on Iran “twenty times” if Tehran tries to cut off oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said the United States is capable of destroying “soft targets” in Iran, and the consequences could make rebuilding the country “virtually impossible.” At the same time, he expressed the hope that matters would not reach such an escalation.

Trump has previously commented on Ali Larijani’s statements. In an interview with CBS News, he said that he was indifferent to such threats. “I have no idea what he’s talking about or who he is. “I don’t care,” said the American president.

The United States and Israel launched a military operation in Iran on February 28. One of Trump's stated goals was the destruction of the Iranian missile program.

On the same day, a number of media outlets, including Reuters and Fox News, reported the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. And Tehran later confirmed this information. The strikes also killed several members of his family and a number of influential officials, Iranian authorities said. After this, Iran began retaliating with missiles and drones on American military bases in the Middle East and on Israeli territory.

Ali Khamenei's son, 56-year-old Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, became the new supreme leader of the Islamic Republic. Israel has previously said that any new Iranian leader could be considered a "target for elimination."
