Russian authorities say they have moved all school chats to the “national messenger” Max. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Kravtsov, at a meeting with Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.
“All our schools have switched to the national messenger MAX; there are already more than 20 million teachers and schoolchildren. This is a secure messenger, here you can access diaries, school assignments, admission to kindergartens, schools. We are improving our work here,” Kravtsov said.
The official explained that one of the reasons for transferring schoolchildren to Max is the desire of the authorities to “protect children from destructive content.” At the same time, according to Kravtsov, the work did not proceed formally, since the educational work is based on Russian traditional values. Among them, he named love for the Motherland and family values.
On February 10, it became known that the Russian authorities decided to slow down the work of the Telegram messenger. Roskomnadzor stated that the social network allegedly does not comply with Russian legislation, and also does not take measures to ensure the security of confidential data of Russians.
In turn, the Telegram administration stated that the messenger never provided the data of its users, much less sent information about Russians to foreign intelligence services. Max in Telegram was considered a state-controlled platform, which was created by the Russian authorities for mass surveillance of the country's residents and the spread of censorship.
On March 5, expertsdiscovered a mechanism in Max that allows it to identify users with a VPN. Experts said that when analyzing network traffic, the application checks whether the VPN connection is active on the user's device.
At the same time, more than half of Russians said that they would not leave Telegram even after the application was completely blocked. 58.5% of users said that “nothing will force” them to subscribe to similar channels in Max.
