Kyiv is ready for a new round of peace negotiations, but the meeting place has not yet been agreed upon due to the different positions of Moscow and Washington, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said.
According to him, the next trilateral meeting was scheduled for March 18-19, but the American side asked to postpone it.
“There’s a whole Santa Barbara there with these negotiations because of the war in the Middle East. The Americans said that they are ready for a meeting, but they are ready only in America, because the war and the security situation currently prohibit them from leaving the territory of the United States,” Zelensky said (quoted from Ukrinform ).
The Ukrainian delegation confirmed its readiness to fly to Miami or Washington, but the Russian side refused to fly to America and offered a choice of Turkey or Switzerland. The Americans rejected this option.
“We immediately said that we are ready for a meeting next week, we are preparing for a meeting in America, and in Switzerland, and in Turkey, and even, if they are not afraid, in the Emirates,” the Ukrainian leader noted.
Whether negotiations will take place now depends on the Americans, Zelensky added.
Since the beginning of 2026, Ukraine, Russia and the United States have held several rounds of trilateral negotiations. In January and February, the delegations met in Abu Dhabi, then in mid-February negotiations took place in Geneva. The next round of negotiations was planned to be held in early March in Abu Dhabi, but the meetings were put on pause due to a new war in the Middle East.
On the night of March 14, Russian troops launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force recorded the launches of 68 missiles and 430 drones. Ukrainian air defense shot down 58 missiles and 402 drones. The main target of the Russian strike was the Kyiv region. “Six missiles and 28 attack drones were hit at 11 locations, as well as UAV debris falling at seven locations,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces said in a statement.
The military administration of the Kiev region said that four areas came under fire. The greatest damage was recorded in the Obukhov and Brovary districts. In total, more than 30 objects were damaged: residential apartment buildings and private buildings, educational institutions, critical infrastructure enterprises, production and storage facilities, and cars. Four people were killed and another 15 people were injured.
Vladimir Zelensky said that Russia attacked five Ukrainian regions on the night of March 14: Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and Nikolaev. “The main target for the Russians was the energy sector of the Kiev region, but, unfortunately, there were also hits and damage to ordinary houses, schools, and civilian enterprises,” said the President of Ukraine. The publication “Insider.ua” wrote that the Trypillya Thermal Power Plant and the substation in Nalyvaykovka, which provides communication between Kiev and the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, were hit.
The Russian Defense Ministry said it carried out the overnight strike in “response to Ukrainian terrorist attacks on civilian targets on Russian territory.” According to the military department, the Russian military attacked enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, energy infrastructure facilities and military airfields. “The objectives of the strike have been achieved. All designated targets were hit,” the ministry said.

Julia (Kiev) . We live from shelling to shelling. From turning off the lights and heat to turning it on. In a constant stupor, in the feeling that there is nothing left - no dreams, no desires. Concerned about loved ones. In a constant groundhog day that has no end. Why do you think that we have the resources to think of you as “good, not guilty”? You are not important to your compatriots, why should you be important to us? Are you there? Cool, I feel better. Are you ashamed? Don’t bother, it doesn’t matter at all, it hasn’t been worth anything for a long time. Live as you want, stop whining. Live, damn it - you still have this opportunity.
