Robert Mueller, who investigated Russian interference in the US elections, has died. "I'm glad he's dead," Trump wrote.

Robert Mueller, who served as special counsel in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US election, has died at the age of 81. Mueller's family announced his death on March 21, asking for his privacy to be respected.

CNN recalls that in August 2025, Mueller's family reported that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease several years ago.

Mueller served as head of the FBI from 2001 to 2013. In 2017, the US Department of Justice appointed him as special prosecutor in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election, which was won by Donald Trump.

The investigation lasted two years. Mueller ultimately concluded that Russia interfered in the election but did not collude with Donald Trump and his campaign.

Donald Trump, commenting on the death of the former special counsel in the election interference case, wrote on his social network Truth: “Robert Mueller just died. Okay, I'm glad he's dead. He can't hurt innocent people anymore!"
