A military plane crashed in Colombia. 48 people survived
A Lockheed C-130 Hercules military transport plane carrying National Army personnel crashed in Colombia. This was announced by the commander of the Colombian Air Force, Carlos Fernando Silva Rueda.
There were 114 passengers and 11 crew members on board. At least 48 of them survived. The fate of the rest is still unknown. Search and rescue efforts continue.
The crash occurred in the municipality of Puerto Legisamo in the Putumayo region in southern Colombia. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff, two kilometers from the airport. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
The Colombian Navy base is located in Puerto Legisamo, thanks to which military units were able to quickly arrive at the scene and provide assistance to the victims, Radio Caracol reports .
El Heraldo notes that the crashed plane was a gift to Colombia from the US government and arrived in the country in 2020.
