In Taganrog, security forces detained the administrator of “one of the largest international hacker platforms” through which personal data databases were distributed for four years. This was reported by official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.
She did not specify the name of the resource. TASS, citing a source, writes that we are talking about the LeakBase forum.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, hundreds of millions of accounts, bank details, logins, passwords and corporate documents were published on the platform - all this information was obtained as a result of hacks. This data could be used for fraud.
A resident of Taganrog was detained in a case of unlawful access to computer information (Part 3 and Part 6 of Article 272.1 of the Criminal Code). He was taken into custody.
On March 4, the US Department of Justice announced the closure of the forum as a result of an international operation in which 14 countries took part. Security services seized the databases and two domains through which the site operated. Security forces also conducted searches and arrests against 37 forum users.
There were 142 thousand users on the platform. Their data also ended up in the hands of the intelligence services.
LeakBase appeared in 2021. Managing partner of the investigative bureau TriTrace Investigations Ilya Shumanov writes that the forum servers were probably located in Sweden. According to him, the administrator turned out to be 33-year-old Artem Kuchumov.
