The last of the coordinated rallies against Internet blocking in Russia has been cancelled. Activist from Penza Ivan Finogeev published a document received from the city administration, which states that a roller skating master class will be held at the site where the protest was allowed to take place a few days ago.

“In this regard, the rally previously announced for March 29 at this site is being canceled so as not to endanger its potential participants,” Finogeev wrote .

The document is signed by the first deputy head of the Perm administration, Andrey Shigankov. Previously, he was temporarily appointed to the post of deputy head of the Penza administration for domestic policy.

Shigankov refused to answer DOXA’s questions about the reasons for canceling the rally and to comment on why the rally was initially agreed upon, but then canceled due to the sudden appearance of a roller skating master class. Moreover, DOXA was convinced that the official actively uses Telegram, which is also actively blocked by the Russian authorities.

Earlier, the authorities began to cancel rallies against Internet blocking, which they themselves agreed upon. On March 29, rallies against Internet blocking are scheduled to take place in 30 Russian cities. In some cities, rallies were coordinated, but now they are also banned, including Vladimir and Penza.

Several organizations are involved in organizing anti-lockdown rallies. On the one hand, this is the team of politician and ex-presidential candidate Boris Nadezhdin, including political strategist Dmitry Kisiev, as well as collaborating systemic forces - some politicians from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and Yabloko.

On the other hand, rallies in different cities of Russia announced TikTok accounts associated with the Scarlet Swan channel. Editor: the channel, however, has already been interrogated by security forces, and the initiative itself is suspected of provocations.
