Shoigu's former deputy in the Ministry of Defense Timur Ivanov will hand over officials and tell about their illegally acquired billions of dollars in property in exchange for the dropping of some of the charges - Kommersant

Kommersant, citing sources in the circle of security officials, said that former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, who is accused of bribes worth 1.3 billion rubles, is ready to make a deal with the investigation. Ivanov reported this in his petition to the Investigative Committee.

Ivanov is allegedly ready to report to the investigation a number of episodes of illegal activities of officials and to hand over information about their illegally acquired property, the circulation of which will bring “billions of rubles” into state revenue.

Ivanov will provide this information to investigators only if the charge of accepting bribes against him is dropped, leaving only charges of abuse of power.

Ivanov’s lawyer Murad Musaev neither confirmed nor denied this information.

Ivanov allegedly made the decision to make a deal after familiarizing himself with the materials of his second criminal case in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center - specifically about large bribes. He denies receiving them. Ivanov is charged with three episodes in 2018-2023, and the defendants in the cases are businessmen Alexander Fomin (co-founder of the OlympCityStroy and Oboronspetsstroy companies) and Sergei Borodin (co-founder of the Russkoe Selo agricultural complex). Fomin and Borodin were arrested and have already admitted guilt, unlike Ivanov.

In the first criminal case - embezzlement of over 4 billion rubles - Ivanov has already been sentenced to 13 years in prison .

Ivanov sought to be released to the Northern Military District, but this was repeatedly denied to him.

Ivanov is one of the deputies of the then Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Shoigu’s second and even more influential deputy, Ruslan Tsalikov, was arrested in early March in connection with the creation of a criminal community, theft and bribes. He was released under house arrest .
