Some commentators mistakenly believed that this was the first official appearance of Kadyrov’s son after the accident in which he got into in January of this year. In addition, the investigative media resource “Important Stories” noted that Kadyrov Jr. attended the meeting “in camouflage with major’s shoulder straps.”

The major stars on Adam Kadyrov's uniform (and such a rank requires at least 8 years of service) was forced to be refuted personally by the press secretary of the head of Chechnya, Ilham Vakhidov. In a commentary to TASS, he said that “Secretary of the Chechen Security Council Adam Kadyrov has the rank of junior lieutenant in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.” However, the legality of assigning this initial officer rank to the 18-year-old son of the head of Chechnya raises big questions. In accordance with Federal Law No. 342 “On Service in the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Russian Federation...”, the first officer rank (including junior lieutenant) is assigned to employees of the internal affairs bodies holding ranks of privates or junior commanding officers, and for its assignment it is necessary to have at least a secondary specialized (specialized) education or incomplete higher education. But until November last year, when Adam Kadyrov turned 18, he could not be accepted into the service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, even as a private. For the same reason, he does not and cannot have the minimum required level of education required to obtain the rank of junior lieutenant.

Let us recall the context in which the meeting took place. On January 16, the lead car of Adam Kadyrov’s motorcade, in which, besides him, there were three other guards, was involved in an accident. Ramzan Kadyrov did not comment on this situation until February 10, when he published a video of his son returning home after treatment in Moscow. From that moment on, Kadyrov Jr. began to regularly take part in official events in the republic. For example, on February 16 and 17 , he attended two meetings held by Ramzan Kadyrov.

In them, 18-year-old Adam was also dressed in camouflage uniform, and on his shoulder straps one could see one star, which the “Important Stories” journalists mistakenly took for a “major.”

The meeting on February 16 should be noted separately. It was dedicated, among other things, to preparations for the upcoming September elections, at which the head of the republic will be elected in Chechnya. During the meeting, Chechen Prime Minister Magomed Daudov turned to Ramzan Kadyrov and “on behalf of the Chechen people” asked him to run for election from the United Russia party for the post of head of the region. In response, Ramzan Kadyrov said that he would do this “only if Vladimir Putin supports him.”

This sounded rather ambiguous, because last December, during the direct line, Kadyrov confidently declared his readiness to participate in the elections.

According to sources of Novaya Gazeta Europe, Kadyrov’s candidacy for the upcoming elections in September was agreed upon with the administration of the President of the Russian Federation last fall. But, as can be assumed from Ramzan Kadyrov’s answer to Magomed Daudov during the February meeting, President Putin has not yet made a final decision. According to our source at the FSB Directorate of the Chechen Republic, “Kadyrov is pushing Putin in this way, because he needs the president’s decision as soon as possible, but Putin is dragging his feet.” The reason, as our source believes, is Kadyrov’s health, which at the moment leaves much to be desired.

It is with health that the source associates the next disappearance of the head of Chechnya at the end of February, when Kadyrov actually fell off the public agenda for the entire duration of Ramadan (the Muslim fast, which this year lasted from February 18 to March 19). According to the source, Kadyrov was undergoing regular therapy to prepare for the end of Ramadan. However, the head of Chechnya was never able to get strong enough and get into shape to record the once traditional video message to believers in honor of the onset of Eid al-Fitr (one of the two main Muslim holidays, marking the end of the Muslim fast).

Along with Kadyrov, his sons also disappeared from the public sphere for several weeks. The ruling family of Chechnya became more active only with the end of the Muslim fast. On March 19, 20 and 21, Ramzan Kadyrov and his children visited a mosque , a family cemetery in the village of Tsentoroi, and also visited the closest relatives and associates of the head of Chechnya. The Chechen media showed stories about these visits. In addition, the corresponding videos were published on Ramzan Kadyrov’s telegram channel. It should be noted that the head of Chechnya clearly prefers Pavel Durov’s messenger to MAKH. Kadyrov opened his account in MAX on September 10 last year, but has not made any efforts to develop it since then. At the moment, Kadyrov’s MAX has only 52 publications and just over 11 thousand subscribers (while telegram has more than 2 million).

As for Adam, a very interesting observation can be made from the videos published by Ramzan Kadyrov himself about the participation of his family members in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.

The role of “main son and potential successor,” which Adam Kadyrov played before the January accident, has apparently passed to the eldest son of the head of Chechnya, Akhmat.

It is he who now appears everywhere next to his father, accompanies him at important meetings, prays at Friday prayers in the front row along with the leader of Chechnya and his closest associates.

The reason why Ramzan Kadyrov did not initially bet on his eldest son is unknown. It was often written about Akhmat that he had a developmental delay or even a mental illness, but our sources do not confirm this fact. “Akhmat is terrified of public speaking, but in terms of mental development he is superior to his brothers,” our source said. “He, for example, plays excellent chess, he has a very good memory, he studied well and, it seems, is the only one of Kadyrov’s sons who actually graduated from school, and not just received a certificate of secondary education.”

It must be said that today, the matured Akhmat Kadyrov makes a completely different impression than before: he has become much more relaxed during public appearances, he jokes with his father’s high-ranking guests, his speech is now much clearer, and he began to speak Russian almost without an accent .

Adam took the modest position of the “third son.” At Friday prayers, he sits in the third row of worshipers, behind his older brothers. Adam also keeps a respectful distance from Ramzan Kadyrov during official events, although formally he is still the “chief of security for the head of Chechnya” and has not recently left his father’s side. Republican media now show Kadyrov’s beloved son only briefly, and often in the company of another son of Kadyrov, Zelimkhan, and the nephew of the head of Chechnya, Khamzat Kadyrov. Both are known for the fact that their misdeeds earned them the disfavor of the Chechen padishah and were even sent to the UAE for permanent residence. (Our sources claim that both have citizenship of this country - a status that is very difficult for mere mortals to obtain.) However, in early March, due to the war in Iran, Kadyrov’s relatives returned home from the Emirates and now, together with Adam, are forced to accompany the head of Chechnya at official events, being literally on the outskirts of his retinue.

“Dostum (Adam Kadyrov’s call sign - Ed. ) is clearly demoted in status, but how long he was sent to the penalty box is unknown,” confirms our source in Kadyrov’s entourage. — The chief (that’s what Kadyrov is called in his close circle. — Ed. ) was very scared <after the accident>, he was forced to ask big people in Moscow for his son. And when it turned out that everything was more or less in order with his son, he gave vent to his anger. Dostum greatly set him up with his idiotic behavior, and even at such a difficult political moment. However, this guy is like water off a duck's back. What saddens him most is not his father’s disgrace, but the doctors’ ban on computer games [due to an injury received in an accident]. He doesn’t need Chechnya and all this politics, but he can’t imagine life without PUBG (a popular multiplayer online shooter. - Ed. )
