The Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Dagestan announced the start of emergency vaccination against viral hepatitis A in areas affected by floods.
“In emergency zones, due to recent floods and the risk of an outbreak of infections, emergency immunization has begun for epidemic indications against viral hepatitis A. The measure is aimed at protecting the population,” said the press service of the Rospotrebnadzor department for Dagestan.
First of all, they are going to vaccinate employees of public catering organizations and food trade, employees of catering departments of preschool, social, educational and medical institutions, workers servicing sewer networks, emergency response participants, as well as people who found themselves in temporary accommodation centers due to floods.
The Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Dagestan reported on the evening of April 4 that in Kaspiysk more than 30 people were poisoned, presumably from drinking water. The Investigative Committee began an investigation to establish “the circumstances and causes of the poisoning.”
