Izvestia’s interlocutors note that companies are forced to incur additional costs in order to reduce regulatory risks and ensure stable operation of services.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, said that the department sets the goal of reducing the use of VPNs in the country. According to media reports, Internet companies were sent recommendations on identifying such services and limiting them.
According to media reports, the Ministry of Digital Development warned that platforms that do not comply with the requirements for restrictions may be excluded from the “white lists” - a list of resources available when the mobile Internet is limited. For example, it includes Wildberries and Ozon, among others.

The department also sent recommendations on identifying such services, and operators were asked to introduce fees for large volumes of international traffic .
