US President Donald Trump said "an entire civilization will die tonight" as his latest ultimatum to Iran expires.

“An entire civilization will perish tonight and will never be brought back. I don’t want this to happen, but it probably will,” he wrote on Truth Social, adding that it could be “one of the most important moments in the history of the world.”

Ultimatum and pressure on Iran

Trump previously demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz , threatening “hell,” a “return to the stone age,” and attacks on energy infrastructure. He set a deadline of 8:00 pm on April 7 US Eastern Time.

Sources note that Washington admits both a forceful scenario and the possibility of a pause in the event of progress in the negotiations, but the likelihood of a delay is assessed as low.

Human rights activists and politicians warn that attacks on energy infrastructure could constitute a war crime.

Strikes against objects and targets of the operation

Before the ultimatum expired, the United States and Israel launched a series of attacks on targets in Iran on the afternoon of April 7. According to Iranian media, Kharg Island , a key hub for the country's oil exports, was attacked.

Military facilities, ammunition depots, radar stations and elements of petrochemical infrastructure were reported to have been hit, including a facility in Shiraz. Israel also warned the population not to use the rail network until Tuesday evening before the strikes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attacks were aimed at military infrastructure and logistics used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and not against the Iranian people.

“These routes are used to transport raw materials for weapons, weapons and militants who attack us, the United States and other countries in the region - the same ones that suppress the Iranian people,” Netanyahu said .

Iran's response and the risk of expanding the conflict

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that if "red lines" were crossed, the response would "go beyond the region."

Fearing a response from Iran, the King Fahd Bridge connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain was closed to traffic on Tuesday.

According to media reports, the Pentagon is expanding the list of potential targets, including dual-use facilities that serve both military and civilian needs. At the same time, there are disputes within the department about the legal admissibility of such strikes.

Experts note that Iran's power grid remains relatively resilient due to its decentralized structure, but large-scale strikes could cause serious consequences for civilians and increase humanitarian risks without harming the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' supply.

Earlier, “Layout” reported that the United States and Iran were discussing a possible truce with Iran. Negotiations through mediators are proceeding in parallel with preparations for a likely escalation of the conflict.
