Patriarch Kirill, during his sermon on Maundy Thursday, April 9, congratulated believers on another holiday - Epiphany (Epiphany), which is celebrated in January. Journalist Ksenia Luchenko writes about this in her Telegram channel.
After the congratulations, the patriarch read a sermon on the importance of the feast of the Epiphany for about five minutes. Then, as can be seen in the broadcast footage, they brought him an open book - he looked there, after which he said: “And today we celebrate Maundy Thursday.” Then he continued his sermon about today's holiday.
On the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate, the patriarch’s sermon was posted in edited form—all references to Epiphany were removed.
