He also participated in the development of new federal standards on this subject.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has become the editor-in-chief of new school textbooks on social studies for grades 9–11, said Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education Olga Koludarova.
“Page-by-page comments, suggestions, editing and much more - all this was reflected not only in the final version of the textbook, but also in the new federal standards and work programs in social studies,” Koludarova said.
The Ministry of Education added that the issue of updating social studies textbooks has been long overdue, since “life is changing, society is changing” and such a subject cannot be outside this process. The secretariat of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council decided to emphasize that Medvedev worked on textbooks “free of charge.”
Dmitry Medvedev actively runs a telegram channel and has long become famous for his statements. Commenting on world events, he, for example, called NATO leaders “Atlantic impotents” and Western politicians “grunting pigs.” The proposals of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council include “killing everyone involved” in the terrorist attack in Crocus and sending residents of the occupied territories who do not like the Russian government to labor camps .
Before updating the social studies course, the authorities began rewriting school history. In 2024, new ideological textbooks for grades 5–9 were included in the federal list. Their author was Putin’s assistant Vladimir Medinsky. The manuals, among other things, talk about the West’s alleged plans to destroy Russia, “Ukrainian neo-Nazism” and the reasons for the war in Ukraine from Putin’s point of view. Educators have already pointed out factual errors in these textbooks.
