The US launched an operation in the Strait of Hormuz

The US military has launched an operation to clear the Strait of Hormuz, which was blocked by Iran with the start of a new war in the Middle East. This was announced by US President Donald Trump.

He claims that Iran's entire fleet, including 28 minelayers, has already been sunk by the US military.

“Their fleet is destroyed, their air force is destroyed, their air defense no longer exists, their radars do not work, their missile and drone factories are practically destroyed along with the missiles and drones themselves, and most importantly, their long-time “leaders” are no longer with us, thank Allah! The only threat is that the ship could get caught in one of their sea mines, and by the way, all 28 of their mine layers are also lying on the bottom of the sea,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social social network.

We are now beginning the process of clearing the Strait of Hormuz as a service to countries around the world, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany and many others. Incredibly, they don't have the courage or will to do the job themselves.

On April 11, at least one US Navy destroyer, the USS Michael Murphy, passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing American officials, reported that several ships have already crossed the strait. According to his sources, this step has not been agreed upon with Iran and this is the first time this has happened since the beginning of the war.

Ravid writes that the warships crossed the strait from east to west, and then returned back to the Arabian Sea. The Iranian military claims that one American ship turned around and left the strait after a warning from Tehran.

Updated . U.S. Central Command said two U.S. destroyers, USS Frank E. Peterson and USS Michael Murphy, passed through the Strait of Hormuz on April 11, operating in the Persian Gulf as part of a broader mission to ensure the strait is completely cleared of naval mines planted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Littoral Combat Ships should undertake mine clearance in the Strait of Hormuz. American destroyers must provide security for them, as well as for tanker convoys passing through the strait. In essence, the passage of American destroyers means the forceful opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

• Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping on the first day of the war with the United States and Israel on February 28 and began launching drone and missile attacks on tankers attempting to cross the strait without its permission. In total, 28 such attacks were recorded since the beginning of the war; attacks on ships continued until the truce declared on April 8.
• In addition, Tehran informed shipowners that the main channel might be unsafe due to mines, instructing them to take a new route through the strait along the Iranian coast. However, there is no evidence that mines have been placed in the strait. Most of the Iranian minelayers were sunk early in the war.
