Former senator from the Tula region Dmitry Savelyev was sentenced to 10 years in prison in a maximum security colony for the attempted murder of his former business partner Sergei Ionov, Mediazona reported on April 13.
According to the prosecution, Savelyev decided to kill his business partner because of a conflict over a stake in the Optomonitoring company. At that moment, Ionov was serving time in a colony. Savelyev, through his acquaintances, was going to pay 100 thousand dollars for his murder. One of the participants in the chain contacted the FSB.
Savelyev did not admit guilt.
