“Go ahead, Hungary! Forward, Hungarians! Viktor Orban made an appeal after his election defeat

The outgoing Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, published a video message on Facebook on the evening of April 13 after the defeat of his Fidesz party in the Hungarian parliamentary elections. His words are quoted by 444.hu.

Orbán said more than 2.25 million voters supported Fidesz and the Christian Democratic People's Party candidates in the April 12 elections.

“In 2014, with the support of the same number of voters, we won a huge election victory. Yesterday this was only enough for a decent performance and defeat,” he said.

Orbán noted that Fidesz is “the most united political community in Hungary” and the party will continue to “faithfully serve the Hungarian people” as it has done for decades. “Our plan is to work with our voters to defend the gains of the national camp,” he added, without giving details.

Orbán concluded his address with a call to Hungarians:

In the coming weeks we will reorganize, visit all constituencies, gather our volunteers, activists, deputies and candidates, and on April 28 we will hold a meeting of the national council. Work started today. Go ahead, Hungary! Forward, Hungarians!
