The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed to legally prohibit the extradition abroad of any foreigners who have received one or another type of asylum in Russia.
Currently, the Russian Federation does not extradite only those foreigners who have received asylum because they face persecution in their home country on the basis of race, nationality, or membership in an official group.
The new proposal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs extends the extradition ban to all foreigners, regardless of their status (refugee, temporary protection, temporary asylum, political asylum).
