The state prosecution has requested five years in a correctional colony for former URA RU editor Denis Allyarov in a bribery case, Interfax reports . In addition to the term, the prosecution asked to fine Allyarov 1.2 million rubles (ten times the cost of the alleged bribe).

Allayarov is accused of Part 3 of Art. 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe to an official). According to investigators, he transferred 120 thousand rubles to the former head of the criminal investigation department, Andrei Karpov, so that he would daily transmit operational reports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Yekaterinburg, on the basis of which the news was made.

Karpov is Allayarov’s uncle.

Initially, the editors of URA RU stated that the money, which the investigation considered bribes, were transfers to relatives, grandmother and aunt. Karpov, the publication claimed, admitted to his family that he was “persuaded to give false testimony against Allayarov in exchange for mitigating his own fate.”

In April, Allayarov unexpectedly admitted guilt, calling himself a victim of betrayal by a loved one.

In November 2025, the Verkh-Isetsky court found Karpov guilty of exceeding official authority and receiving a bribe. He was sentenced to four years probation.
