US President Donald Trump sent his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to negotiations with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Islamabad, the Associated Press reported on April 24, citing the White House.

White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said they would leave for Pakistan on April 25, writes Reuters. According to her, US Vice President J.D. Vance, who earlier in April held the first round of negotiations with Iran, may also go to Islamabad if Washington considers it necessary.

The Iranian Foreign Minister has already arrived in Pakistan. Sources told Reuters that Araghchi has no plans to meet with US negotiators and his visit will be brief. He is going to present his proposals to the Pakistani mediator, which must be conveyed to the United States. Araghchi will then travel to Muscat, Oman and Moscow.

As Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported , citing sources, the meeting of US and Iranian negotiators could take place after they separately communicate with Pakistani mediators. Axios sources said a trilateral meeting involving the US, Iran and Pakistan could take place on April 27.
