In Omsk, animal rights activist Valeria Belova died after being attacked by two drunken men.

In Omsk, a local resident died, who was beaten by two drunken men on March 25 and set their dog on her. This was reported by TASS citing a source in law enforcement agencies.

“Caution, News” and “Omsk-Inform” write that the deceased is 35-year-old animal rights activist Valeria Belova.

As Valeria herself said on her page on VKontakte, she was attacked by two drunk men, “one of whom makes a living by setting his fighting dog on homeless people and their owners’ dogs.”

“One of them also knew that I was a volunteer through the SVO , and did not hesitate to shout about Ukrainians. They also tried to take my phone away and set a dog on me, which bit both me and my dogs. I had to refuse hospitalization that day because there were five dogs waiting at home,” said the post published on the night of April 23.

In it, Belova also wrote that she could no longer stay at home, because “complications began” due to a concussion and bruising of the soft tissues of the head.

According to the SuperOmsk publication, the woman died on April 23.

On April 14, the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Omsk Region reported that it had opened a criminal case due to the beating of Belova. The investigation is being conducted under the article on intentionally causing minor harm to health with the use of objects used as weapons (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 114 of the Criminal Code).

The police released footage from surveillance cameras. It shows how two men approach a woman who is walking her dogs, after which one of them throws her to the ground and begins to beat her.

The police report said that “the 23-year-old dog owner hit the Omsk woman several times during the conflict, and also set his Staffordshire terrier on the woman and her pets.” The Ministry of Internal Affairs also claimed that the identities of the attackers had been established, but their detention was not reported.
