Alexey Mordashov's yacht passed through the blocked Strait of Hormuz

The 142-meter superyacht Nord, owned by Severstal owner Alexei Mordashov, passed through the Strait of Hormuz, according to traffic tracking service Vesselfinder.

Judging by data from Vesselfinder, as well as another similar service, Marinetraffic , the yacht left Dubai on April 24 and is heading to Oman.

The ship passed through the strait, moving along a route south of Laraque Island, NBC News notes .

In addition, on Saturday night, as follows from Marinetraffic data, two vessels under American sanctions passed through the strait: the tanker Ocean Jet and Lumina Ocean, writes NBC News. Also, five more cargo ships, including one Iranian, and a passenger ferry from Oman passed through the strait between 17:00 Friday and 5:00 Saturday.

• The Nord yacht was built at the German shipyard Lürssen and in 2021 was transferred to Mordashov, whom Forbes sources called the construction customer. The ship sailed under the flag of the Cayman Islands, but at the beginning of 2022 Mordashov came under sanctions, and then the yacht was re-registered in Russia. In June 2023, the yacht returned to Vladivostok after an absence of almost a year.
