There was a shooting at a dinner with Trump

A shooting occurred in Washington during Donald Trump's official dinner with White House reporters. The attacker, a 31-year-old teacher from California, tried to break through a security checkpoint at the Washington Hillton Hotel but was detained. A Secret Service employee was injured. The attacker had a shotgun, a pistol and several knives with him.

Immediately after the incident, Secret Service agents evacuated Trump, his wife Melania, Vice President Vance, and then all the guests. The attacker told law enforcement officers that he wanted to shoot officials of the presidential administration. Trump called him a “sick man” during a press conference.

The attacker will appear in court on Monday, charged with assaulting a federal employee and using a firearm. His house is currently being searched. There have been two assassination attempts on Trump's life in 2024. As a result of one of them, a bullet hit the upper part of his ear, the shooter was eliminated; two months later, another attacker was found in the bushes with a weapon on the grounds of the golf club where Trump was staying. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. The Washington Hilton Hotel, where the night of the incident took place, was where Ronald Reagan was wounded in 1981.
