TF International Securities insider and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that OpenAI, known as the developer of the ChatGPT chatbot, is collaborating with chip makers Qualcomm and MediaTek to develop processors for smartphones.
According to him, Luxshare Precision Industry, which produces components for computer equipment, acts as an “exclusive partner for joint design and production of systems.”
The analyst said that mass production of a smartphone with built-in artificial intelligence is expected in 2028, although final specifications and suppliers will be determined at the end of 2026 or early 2027.
There is no independent confirmation of this information. OpenAI, Qualcomm, MediaTek and Luxshare did not comment on this.
On the back of this news, Qualcomm shares rose 9%, Luxshare shares listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange rose 10%. At the same time, Apple shares on the New York stock exchange fell by 1.9%.
