Today Ukraine carried out a massive drone attack on Perm for the second day in a row. Perm, Russia's fifteenth largest city with a population of over a million people, is almost 1,400 kilometers from the nearest section of the internationally recognized Russian-Ukrainian border.
In the morning, a drone danger was declared in the Perm region, and the airport in the city was closed for several hours. Sirens began to sound, and air raid warning messages began to be broadcast on TV.
Classes at several universities - in particular, at Perm State University and the local branch of the Plekhanov Russian Economic University - were moved to an online format. At the same time, most schools and kindergartens continued to operate: during the regime of unmanned danger, children were hidden in corridors and gyms. In addition, the city partially changed the operation of public transport and canceled the fireworks show scheduled for May 1.
The target of the drone attack, as OSINT publics write , was one of the largest Russian oil refineries, Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez (PNOS); this was later officially confirmed by the Security Service of Ukraine. The PNOS plant is the eighth largest in Russia in terms of oil processed.
The Astra publication clarified that the drones hit the tank farm. A strong fire broke out at the enterprise, the smoke from which was visible throughout the city. Judging by satellite images, it stretches for more than 120 kilometers.
The authorities, in turn, practically do not comment on what is happening in the city. The regional Ministry of Territorial Security reported without details that “several” drones were shot down “on approach” to Perm.
Governor of the Perm Territory Dmitry Makhonin in his Telegram channel today only wrote about the fact of an attack “on one of the industrial sites” - at the same time, he separately emphasized that publishing photos and videos of the consequences of the arrival of a UAV in the region is prohibited . Perm Mayor Eduard Sosnin did not publicly respond to the attacks at all. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov also did not speak about the situation in Perm at the daily press briefing.
The regional department of Rospotrebnadzor reported that air quality was being monitored in residential buildings in Perm for the second day in a row and “the situation is under control.” At the same time, residents were advised to limit their stay on the street if a burning smell appears or their health deteriorates.
The telegram channel “Perm 36.6” wrote that state employees of the city “are being persuaded not to react to reports of explosions and ‘just continue working’.”
The day before, drones struck the Transneft production control station, which is located a few kilometers from Perm. A strong fire started there, and “oil rain” occurred in the city. The authorities also practically did not comment on the situation; schools and kindergartens continued to operate as usual.

War teaches acceptance, living here and now, valuing humanity above all else, regardless of which side in this war is supported by those who are nearby. If you can help a person in trouble, always help, be human. Yes, war evokes contempt. This is the most terrible thing that man has come up with.
“Damn the war!” These were my thoughts when, in 2014, my nine-year-old daughter and I fled home from the store under fire, and I ran to read the Lord’s Prayer aloud just to get there. And most importantly, it doesn’t matter what country is here now, as long as peace comes and people stop killing each other. Let it end at the cost of territories if it saves thousands of lives on both warring sides.
