Ukrainian intelligence stated that it inserted an agent into Apti Alaudinov’s entourage and listened to the conversations of the command staff of the Chechen Akhmat battalion for three months. This is stated in the GUR press release.
Ukrainian version. According to Kyiv, at the beginning of 2025 they established contact with an Akhmat serviceman. He installed a listening device in the meeting room of the Akhmat command staff. This allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine to receive information about the plans and capabilities of the unit. As a result, the battalion suffered the greatest losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they say.
The video published by Ukraine contains fragments of meetings in which, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the commander of the Akhmat, Apti Alaudinov, participates. “Most of our artillery crews and tank crews don’t even know how to shoot normally. <...> They essentially never fought for four years,” he allegedly said.
After this, an agent from among the battalion’s fighters was “organized for a safe passage to territory controlled by Ukraine.”
Akhmat's reaction . Alaudinov called the statement of “Ukrainian LGBT people” and “storytellers” “the work of artificial intelligence.” “The only thing I have is a question. If you bugged me for two months, why didn’t you do anything about my work?” he said.
"Tiktok troops" . Previously, Z-bloggers and Ukrainian media called the Akhmat unit “Tiktok troops” due to their active PR on social networks and pro-Kremlin media. In August 2024, the Ukrainian Armed Forces crossed the border in the Kursk region, which was supposed to be guarded by Akhmat fighters. Alaudinov initially denied the scale of what was happening, and then said that Ukrainian troops had “bypassed” his unit’s strongholds.
