
The Khamovnichesky District Court of Moscow arrested the movable and immovable property of businessman Vadim Moshkovich, as well as 100% of the shares of a number of companies, including Rusagro, Interfax reports , citing one of the participants in the process.
The Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit to transfer to the state the property of the founder of Rusagro Moshkovich and the former general director of the holding Maxim Basov.
Moshkovich and Basov have been in jail since March 2024 on charges of large-scale fraud, deliberate bankruptcy, money laundering and bribery. According to investigators, they convinced the founder of the Solar Products company, Vladislav Burov, to sell 85% of the shares in exchange for repurchase of debt and investments, but this did not happen.
The investigation estimated the damage at about a billion rubles. The prosecutor's office estimates the value of the arrested Rusagro shares at more than 1.1 billion rubles.
In addition to Moshkovich and Basov, the defendants in the lawsuit are Moshkovich’s wife Natalya Bykovskaya, the holding’s top manager Sergei Tribunsky, as well as the companies “Financial Resource” and “Profit”.
Moshkovich is the richest Russian businessman, whose assets are being taken away by the state as part of a campaign to redistribute property, the Agency noted . Forbes estimates his assets at $2.9 billion. According to the publication, after Western countries imposed sanctions against Moshkovich in March 2022, he reduced his stake in Rusagro below 50% and resigned from the company’s board of directors.
