Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky accused Russia of disrupting his proposed truce

Five people were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on Dzhankoy in annexed Crimea. This was announced by the head of the region, Sergei Aksyonov.

According to him, the victims were civilians. Aksenov did not provide any other details about the strike.

“I express my most sincere and deepest condolences to their families and friends. The authorities will provide all necessary assistance and support,” Aksyonov wrote in Max.

The head of the region added that specialized services are working on the spot, and he “keeps the situation under personal control.” Residents were urged to rely only on official sources of information.

Crimean authorities reported a UAV attack on the peninsula late in the evening of May 5

At about 22:30 Moscow time, the Crimean authorities reported a drone attack and the operation of air defense systems.

Russia's Investigative Committee said it would investigate "crimes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against civilians" in Crimea and other regions. The Russian prosecutor's office in Crimea said it was monitoring the observance of citizens' rights after the attack.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that on the night of May 6, air defense forces destroyed 53 Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions, the Moscow region, Crimea, as well as over the Black Sea.

On May 5, the Crimean authorities canceled the military parade and the Immortal Regiment march for Victory Day due to security concerns. Similar decisions were made by the authorities of the Kursk, Voronezh and Novgorod regions.

Russia and Ukraine again accuse each other of disrupting the truce

At midnight on May 6, the “silence regime” declared by Ukraine came into force. The office of Vladimir Zelensky stated that if the ceasefire is mutually observed, it can be extended.

At the same time, Zelensky himself later stated that Russia disrupted the truce.

“Russia’s choice is an obvious refusal of silence and saving lives,” the Ukrainian president wrote in his Telegram channel.

Zelensky added that Kyiv will make further decisions after reports from the military and intelligence.

Russia had previously declared its own ceasefire for May 8 and 9 to mark Victory Day.
