Most Ukrainians consider government corruption a greater threat to the country than Russian aggression

54% of Ukrainians believe that corruption in government bodies of the country is a greater threat to the development of Ukraine than Russian aggression, according to the results of a survey by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

Military aggression was named as a greater threat (compared to corruption) by only 39% of respondents. Another 7% could not decide on an answer. Respondents were asked to choose between two options.

KIIS Executive Director Anton Grushetsky emphasized that the word “corruption,” which the survey participants heard from those who conducted it, “ raises strong emotions and stereotypes and often clouds any rational thinking .”

“ Even among those who “fully trust” the president, almost half consider corruption a greater threat to Ukraine than war. Objectively, this is a wrong view, since the war waged by Russia is aimed at wiping Ukraine and Ukrainians off the face of the earth, which risks the death of the entire Ukrainian nation ,” Grushetsky said.

The survey was conducted April 20-27 through telephone interviews (computer-assisted telephone interviews, CATI). The survey involved 1,005 respondents in all regions of Ukraine that are controlled by the government in Kyiv.
