Almost three thousand flights have been canceled or delayed in Moscow since the beginning of the week, New Europe found out

Since May 4, about 1,000 departure flights and over 1,200 landing flights have been delayed at Moscow airports Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo, New-Europe calculated. Another 300 departure and landing flights were cancelled.

Record for cancellations. Most flights were canceled yesterday to Vnukovo. So, 111 planes were unable to take off from there, and another 70 were unable to arrive. At the same time, there were practically no cancellations at other capital airports.

Record for delays. The leader in delays is Sheremetyevo Airport. Yesterday, for one reason or another, 174 departures were postponed, and 229 aircraft arrived late.

Today's cancellations and delays. Today, more than 180 flights were canceled at the capital's airports (85 to Sheremetyevo, 79 to Vnukovo and 19 to Domodedovo). This is mainly due to the closure of airports in southern Russia. At the same time, the Federal Air Transport Agency has now reversed the decision to suspend flights.

In addition, today more than 460 flights were postponed or delayed at Moscow airports. The largest number is in Sheremetyevo (213), then Vnukovo (178) and Domodedovo (74).

What are the restrictions? Flight cancellations and delays in Moscow are occurring due to massive attacks by Ukrainian drones. In just the last two days, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, announced the destruction of 101 drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Flight restrictions in the southern regions were introduced this morning after UAF drones attacked the building of the Air Navigation of the South of Russia in Rostov-on-Don. The Federal Air Transport Agency initially issued a notice (NOTAM) suspending flights to cities in the south of the country until May 12, but later canceled it.
