Putin replaced the governors of the border Belgorod and Bryansk regions

Vladimir Putin appointed Alexander Shuvaev as acting governor of the Belgorod region, and Yegor Kovalchuk as acting head of the Bryansk region. This was reported by the Kremlin press service.

Putin held preliminary meetings with both new appointees in the Kremlin.

Putin also accepted the resignation of their predecessors, Vyacheslav Gladkov and Alexander Bogomaz. The Kremlin said that they decided to leave their positions of their own free will.

🔵 Who is Shuvaev. Alexander Shuvaev is a Russian soldier, major general of the army. Participated in the Russian-Georgian war, in the military operation in Syria, as well as in the war against Ukraine. Last summer I became a participant in the “Time of Heroes” program. In January, Shuvaev became deputy governor of the Irkutsk region.

New Europe sources previously reported his appointment to the post of head of the Belgorod region. At the same time, his appointment was postponed - according to New-Europe’s interlocutors, he could have gotten drunk before meeting with Vladimir Putin, and “the military’s lobbyists realized that he was no good.”

🔵 Who is Kovalchuk. Egor Kovalchuk is a graduate of the school of governors, the program for developing the personnel management reserve of the Higher School of Public Administration of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. He served as deputy governor of the Chelyabinsk region and head of the city of Miass. In July 2024, Russia appointed him “chairman of the government” of the “LPR”.
