Since 2022, the Wind project has recorded at least 319 cases in which Russian military personnel, after being seriously wounded, were sent back to the front without waiting for the end of rehabilitation.
Data . 218 publications say that military personnel have already returned to the combat zone, while the rest talk about plans or threats to be sent.
The sample included both cases of forced return to the front - more than 80% of these - and situations where wounded people with disabilities or who had not completed treatment returned of their own free will. In reality, the number of such cases may be much higher.
Cases . As “Veter” found out, Ivan D. from Yekaterinburg signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense in 2023, and a year later received a severe shrapnel wound to his leg. After the operation, the man could only walk on crutches, but instead of treatment he was returned to the unit.
In March 2025, Ivan received a second wound - a shrapnel damaged his kidney and intestines, part of which had to be removed. The military medical commission declared him temporarily unfit for service.
Later, Ivan was declared to have left his unit without permission and a criminal case was opened. In December 2025, he was taken to the reserve battalion in Yenakievo, and then, despite being sent to the Military Military Command, he was sent to the combat zone near Pokrovsk. After that, he stopped communicating and has been listed as missing since December.
A similar story happened with 32-year-old Daniil K. After being seriously wounded near Pokrovsk - with fractures, injuries to the spine and pelvis - doctors declared him temporarily unfit for service. However, in December 2025, the military took him from the temporary deployment point, where he had arrived to undergo military military training. A few days later, the family was informed that Daniil was “in service,” and already on January 7 he was listed as missing.
In some cases, we are immediately talking about groups of wounded military personnel. For example, in August 2025, at least 14 servicemen from the Chelyabinsk region, who were being prepared for dismissal due to injury, were sent to carry out an assault in the Novoselovka area of the Volnovakha district of the Donetsk region. Among them were people with injured arms, on crutches and with a plate in their head.
