A repeatedly convicted war veteran did not return to duty from a business trip and, together with two teenagers, attacked a resident of Biysk; he was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison

The Barnaul garrison military court sentenced serviceman Ivan Raskovalov to 12 and a half years in a special regime colony, who did not return to duty after a business trip and attacked a man along with two teenagers. This was reported by the press service of the 2nd Eastern District Military Court.

Raskovalov did not return to military service in September 2024 - instead, he stayed at home and began to spend his time “at his own discretion,” the court said.

On June 5, 2025, a man, along with two teenagers - Kirill Bespalov and another young man who was still under 18 years old - drunkenly attacked a man in Biysk and stole his bank card. After that, the company withdrew 300 thousand rubles from her and divided the money. Raskovalov was detained on June 9 and sent to a pre-trial detention center.

The court sentenced Bespalov to four and a half years in a general regime colony, and the minor - four years in an educational colony. They were found guilty of robbery.

Raskovalov was also charged with desertion. The court’s release stated that his actions were recognized as a “particularly dangerous recidivism of crimes,” and the sentence was imposed taking into account the unserved part of the sentence under another court decision.

As Mediazona discovered, Raskovalov had previously received at least seven sentences. He received his first suspended sentence in 2011. Then the court sentenced him to five years probation on charges of causing grievous bodily harm.

Later, from 2014 to 2020, the man was tried on charges of threatening to kill, robbery, robbery and theft. Periodically, he was sent to a colony, from where he was released on parole or after part of his sentence was replaced with forced labor.

Raskovalov’s last sentence was handed down in May 2025, after he failed to return to his military unit from a business trip, on charges of threatening to kill and assault. The decision of the Biysk City Court states that in January of the same year, the military man quarreled with his partner and told her: “I will kill or stab you.” After that, he beat the woman. She recorded the beatings, but then said that Raskovalov apologized to her, and she forgave him.

Among the mitigating circumstances, the court recognized that the man had repented and was participating in the war with Ukraine. As a result, he was sentenced to a year of forced labor with a deduction of 5% of his salary.
