Sirens, blocked roads and a fire at an oil depot: Novorossiysk came under attack from a UAV

On the evening of May 22, a threat of drone attack was announced in Novorossiysk. Sirens were turned on in the city, residents were urged to leave public places and open spaces, and later the authorities reported directly that the attack had been repelled.

As events unfolded, restrictions gradually increased. In the city, a section of the embankment from Isaeva Street to Suvorovskaya was blocked; later, traffic towards Gelendzhik was restricted from the intersection of Sudostalskaya and Portovaya streets, as well as at the entrance to Novorossiysk from Kabardinka.

Later, a missile danger was announced in Novorossiysk.

After midnight, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory reported that as a result of the fall of UAV debris, a fire occurred on the territory of the oil depot.

According to official information, several technical and administrative buildings caught fire, and fragments of drones also fell on the territory of the fuel terminal.

Initially, the authorities announced that there were no casualties, but later the information began to be clarified. At first, the operational headquarters reported one casualty, and then the number of wounded increased to two.

According to officials, both men were on the street when the drone debris fell. They were hospitalized and are receiving medical care.

At the same time, the independent ASTRA project, citing an OSINT analysis of published video recordings, reported that a fire with a high probability could have occurred at the Sheskharis transshipment complex, the largest oil loading terminal in the south of Russia, part of the structure of Chernomortransneft JSC.

Officially, the authorities did not name the name of the object.

Also on the night of May 23, the consequences of the attack were recorded in Anapa. According to the operational headquarters, in the village of Vesyolaya Gora, debris from a drone damaged outbuildings on the territory of a private household. According to official data, there were no casualties.

While authorities are reporting “falling debris,” details about the number of drones, the nature of the damage, and the actual site where the fire occurred are practically not officially disclosed. Meanwhile, independent analysts are already linking the fire to the infrastructure of the region’s largest oil terminal.
