
On the morning of May 23, a drone flew into Latvia, it fell into Lake Dridzis in the Kraslava region and exploded upon contact with water. The Latvian police reported this.
Local residents reported the drone to the police around 8:00 am. According to Astra, the crash site of the drone is 20 kilometers from the border with Belarus and 50 kilometers from the border with Russia.
No one was injured as a result of the incident. Police officers found debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle.
Additional forces were sent to the scene, including an additional police squad with a drone, representatives of the State Fire and Rescue Service and the National Armed Forces.
The Latvian National Armed Forces told LETA that the sensors did not detect the drone approaching the country, so no alert was sent to local residents.
