The 2nd Eastern District Military Court sentenced Altai activist Aruna Arna to 5 years in prison in the case of calls for terrorism, Mediazona learned.
She was also given an additional ban on website administration for two years.
The state prosecution requested 6 years in prison for Arn.
As the Voice of Altai channel previously wrote , a case was opened against the activist due to the publication of two revolutionary anthems in her personal telegram channel: “Varshavyanka” and “International”.
For these same songs, Kamchatka teacher Vasily Vershinina is being prosecuted under an article on terrorism - both she and Arna were supporters of the conspiracy theorist and founder of the Volya party Svetlana Lada-Rus (Peunova).
A criminal case was opened against the Altai activist at the end of September 2025. At first she was banned from certain actions, but later the preventive measure was tightened - the activist was sent to a pre-trial detention center. The woman has three children left at large.
In the Altai Republic, Aruna Arna is known as one of the opponents of the 2025 municipal reform.
The bill adopted by the republican deputies provides for the abolition of the administrations of rural settlements, which will come under the control of the administrations of ten districts (aimags).
The changes, according to activists, will complicate the control of local residents over the transfer of land to third parties, including for commercial development.
After local residents protested at the court building, which was considering a lawsuit against the reform, Aruna Arna was fined 20 thousand rubles under the pretext of organizing an action.
