PyPI, a repository for Python programming, stopped working in Russia

Users from Russia noticed that the PyPI website , a repository of packages and libraries for the Python programming language, stopped opening for them.

This information appeared on the Detector404 website after 13:00 on June 1. Habr user freehabr drew attention to this. By evening there were fewer reports of problems.

According to him, problems with access arose both for end users and for hosting providers. Commentators confirmed that they also had problems.

Problems with access to the repository directly affect everyone who writes in Python; PyPI is the basic infrastructure for developers in this language, notes Durov Code.

The publication writes that, according to diagnostics, the site behaves like resources blocked by Roskomnadzor:

A check using an Internet blocking diagnostic tool showed that the connection to pypi.org was terminated at the TLS stage (an encryption protocol that establishes a secure channel between the client and the server). This behavior is typical for resources blocked by Roskomnadzor using DPI (deep packet inspection) tools.

Roskomnadzor told Vedomosti that it did not restrict access to PyPI and “does not record any problems with access to the resource.”
