A full-length film based on “The Adventures of Leopold the Cat” will be shot in Russia.

In Russia they are going to shoot a full-length feature film “The Adventures of Leopold the Cat.” Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2026.

Work on the film is being carried out by Welcome Media and the Belarusian company Kinotsekh, TASS reports. The film will be directed by Vladislav Bogush (“To Grandfather’s Village”).

The film “The Adventures of Leopold the Cat” is based on the stories of Anatoly Reznikov, the director of the original animated series. The film will take place in the present day. The names of the actors have not yet been revealed.

According to the project's producer, Maxim Maximov, the film will talk about friendship and the ability to find a common language even in the most difficult situations. “These values ​​are timeless and understandable to any generation, which makes Leopold the cat a completely universal movie character,” he says.

The animated series “The Adventures of Leopold the Cat,” written by Arkady Khait, was published from 1975 to 1987. A total of 11 episodes were released. In 2016, a sequel was filmed - “The New Adventures of Leopold the Cat”.
