A prisoner from Mordovia was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison in the case of recruiting drug couriers on the instructions of an FSB operative

The Supreme Court of Mordovia sentenced repeat offender Alexander Ibragimov to seven and a half years in a special regime colony for instigation and complicity in drug trafficking. As Kommersant writes , with the help of Ibragimov, an FSB officer organized the work of “shuttles” to transport drugs.

According to investigators, a prisoner from a correctional colony bought amphetamine on the darknet in batches of 200 grams. According to investigators, Ibragimov bought drugs with the money of his mother and brother, convincing them that otherwise he could be killed in the colony.

After that, he began recruiting “shuttles” through the messenger. Suppliers hid the packages in caches in the Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow region, and Ibragimov tasked the shuttle traders with taking the drugs from the caches and taking them to the recipients in Penza. However, on the way to the Zubovo-Polyansky district of Mordovia, they were caught red-handed by security forces who were in ambush.

Five arrests were made this way. To avoid a real sentence, two victims signed contracts and went to war in Ukraine. One of them went missing, the second lost his leg. The families of the victims filed civil claims against Ibragimov for damages in the amount of 30 million rubles. The court did not consider these applications, since, in its opinion, the organizer of the provocations was an FSB officer. Consequently, the defendant must be the Russian or regional budget.

Ibragimov fully admitted his guilt and testified against the former detective of the FSB department in the village of Yavas, Vitaly Kulagin. As follows from the verdict referred to by the publication, the investigation considers the former intelligence officer to be the organizer of a criminal group for fabricating crimes related to drug trafficking.

Investigators believe that at the beginning of 2024, Kulagin came up with a plan to artificially increase the detection rate of drug crimes. To do this, Kulagin helped Ibragimov leave the punishment cell and provided him with an office of operative workers in the colony, equipped with a telephone, laptop and Internet access. For assistance in his work, Ibragimov, according to him, was promised a reward and good prison conditions.

Kommersant also reports that in March 2024 there was an attempt to arrest a “shuttle” who would have taken a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a grenade from the cache. It was planned to present this as the work of a saboteur in the interests of Ukraine. A native of St. Petersburg was recruited for this role, but on that day there was a terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Moscow. Due to enhanced security measures, the transportation of weapons was canceled.
