Rosfinmonitoring recognized OVD-Info as an extremist organization and included Memorial’s foreign branches on the list.

Rosfinmonitoring included 36 structures in the list of extremist organizations - the OVD-Info media project, the Revolt Center association and 34 organizations associated with Memorial.

OVD-Info is the largest Russian human rights media project, monitoring political persecution and providing legal assistance to detainees. The project arose within the Memorial human rights center in 2011 and has been its partner for a long time. The organization’s website has been blocked in Russia since the end of 2021.

Among the structures of Memorial there are not only Russian regional branches, but also foreign ones: in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, Israel and Lithuania, as well as the Ukrainian Kharkov Human Rights Group and the Belarusian Memorial. The Memorial movement itself was declared extremist by the Supreme Court in April of this year, and today’s decision of Rosfinmonitoring is a financial and regulatory consequence of this decision.

Inclusion on the list means the organization's accounts are frozen. For Russian citizens, any interaction with it can be qualified as participation in extremist activities.
