Informer Vitaly Borodin lost the case to Alla Pugacheva

The Presnensky District Court of Moscow completely rejected the claim of the informer Vitaly Borodin against the singer Alla Pugacheva for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation. Lawyers representing the singer’s interests told Meduza about this.

The reason for the lawsuit was Pugacheva’s interview with journalist Katerina Gordeeva, published on YouTube in September 2025. According to lawyers, Borodin felt that his honor and dignity were being discredited by an eight-second fragment of an interview in which Pugacheva calls the war a war and says: “Borodin, get ready! Informers and informers, pay attention!” He demanded a refutation from the singer, compensation in the amount of five million rubles and removal of the video.

The singer's defense argued that the lawsuit was based on a "distorted written recording of an oral remark." Borodin, according to lawyers, combined into one phrase words that were separated in the interview by a pause and intonation. They also pointed out that Borodin’s demand for a refutation on Katerina Gordeeva’s YouTube channel is impossible, since the singer does not have access to it.

“We took the position that the words ‘informers and informers’ were not directly addressed to Borodin. In relation to him, only the phrase “Borodin, get ready” was uttered - this was confirmed by expert linguists. In addition, this is a critical value judgment based on numerous facts of his appeals to government bodies, which Borodin himself has repeatedly spoken publicly about,” said the singer’s representatives.

In court, Borodin said that he had never heard him publicly called an “informer” or “informer.” In response, lawyers provided 80 pages of publications in the media where he was called that way.

Borodin stated in his Telegram channel that “the court’s conclusions do not correspond to the actual circumstances of the case and the evidence presented.” He added that he plans to appeal the decision.

• After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Alla Pugacheva and her family left Russia. Her husband Maxim Galkin, who has repeatedly publicly spoken out against the war, was declared a “foreign agent” by the Russian Ministry of Justice. The singer spoke out in support of her husband, asking to be included in “the ranks of foreign agents of her beloved country.” She called Galkin “a true and incorruptible patriot of Russia” who wishes his country “a peaceful life, freedom of speech” and an end to the deaths of people “for illusory goals.”
• In April 2023, Borodin asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to check Pugacheva for funding the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, State Duma deputy Alexei Zhuravlev demanded that the singer be declared a “foreign agent.” The Russian Ministry of Justice did not do this.
