Bulgaria said it will no longer supply weapons to Ukraine

Bulgaria will no longer supply weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, said Prime Minister Rumen Radev.

“ We have already delivered enough, and our country continues to suffer socio-economic damage from this bloody war. We are confident that achieving a peaceful solution is impossible through military means ,” Radev said , as quoted by the government press service.

He called for a " comprehensive, realistic approach " to the war in Ukraine and the search for a diplomatic solution.

Radev became Bulgaria's prime minister in May after his political party, Progressive Bulgaria, won snap parliamentary elections.

Previously, the government of another EU country, Slovakia, publicly announced their intention to stop aid supplies to Kyiv. Hungary, under Prime Minister Viktor Orban, also refused to provide military and economic assistance to Ukraine.

The day before, Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said that the government does not plan to provide more weapons to the Ukrainian army. According to the minister, the time has come to sit down at the negotiating table and seek a just peace.

“ We have already clearly stated that the war in Ukraine will not be decided on the battlefield. We see a positional war, and no matter how many weapons we accumulate, the only thing it brings is the loss of human lives ,” the minister said , as quoted by the BTA news agency.
