A student recruited into the UAV troops died in the war against Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region.

“People of Baikal” drew attention to reports of the death of Ilya Ulyanov from the city of Zakamensk in Buryatia.

A young man born in 2006 signed a contract in his last year at an agro-industrial technical school on May 23, 2025. The obituary says that Ulyanov served as a “UAV operator of the communications battalion of military unit 69647 of the Guard” and died on May 27, 2026 “while performing a combat mission near the settlement. Sweets of Zaporozhye region. Under what circumstances Ulyanov died is not specified.

In the Zaporozhye region there are two settlements with the name Sladkoe: one is located in the Gulyai-Polye region, less than two kilometers from the line of combat contact - it was occupied by the Russian Federation in December 2025. Another village is located 33 kilometers from the line of combat contact; it was occupied at the beginning of 2022. It is not specified in which of these two settlements the student died.

Farewell to Ulyanov took place today in Zakamensk. He is survived by his parents and four younger brothers.
