In October 2022, Musk proposed his own “ peace plan ”: repeated elections under the auspices of the UN in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, recognition of Crimea as part of Russia, neutral status of Ukraine and guarantees of water supply to Crimea. Then he wrote that he was “a big fan of Ukraine , but not the Third World War.”
In 2024, Musk called the war an “eternal war without progress” and argued that Ukrainian youth were dying without territorial gains for the country. He later confirmed this assessment in X.
In 2025, Musk increased his criticism of the continuation of the war . At an event for the Italian League party, he called the conflict “cruel, inhumane and senseless” and supported US President Donald Trump’s intention to achieve a cessation of hostilities.
“I have no respect for those who incite war, they are truly evil. We see a lot of people dying and there is no plan. All this is cruel, inhuman and senseless. <...> It’s time to say “enough is enough,” Musk said.
Previously, “Verstka” wrote about how the Russian army began to massively use Starlink in the war in 2024. It turned out that Musk's terminals are one of the few ways to get uninterrupted Internet access in a combat zone.
