Russian artist Semyon Skrepetsky was shot dead in Poland

Polish investigators confirmed the identity of the murdered man. Two citizens of Belarus were detained in the case

Russian artist and activist Semyon Skrepetsky (real name Robert Kuzovkov) was killed in the Polish city of Biała Podlaska.

According to the investigation, on the morning of June 15, an unknown person approached a 44-year-old Russian in a residential area of ​​the city and opened fire at close range. The artist died on the spot.

The investigation confirmed the identity of the deceased

Initially, Polish media, citing unofficial sources, reported that the victim was Semyon Skrepetsky, a Russian artist and author of satirical works that criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin , the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov and the war in Ukraine.

Later, the Polish police officially confirmed that it was Skrepetsky who was killed.

The artist left Russia for political reasons. At the same time, in his works he criticized not only the Russian authorities, but also representatives of the Russian opposition, including Alexei Navalny, as well as Ukrainian politicians, including Vladimir Zelensky.

Ukrainian activists previously entered his data into the database of the Myrotvorets website, accusing him of spreading Russian narratives about the war.

Two Belarusian citizens detained

One suspect was detained immediately after the attack. According to Polish media, a total of two people were involved in the crime.

DzikMedia claims that the alleged attackers were brought to the crime scene by a taxi driver from Belarus, who was reportedly threatened with a gun.

One of the suspects was detained near the Belarusian consulate in Biala Podlaska. On the morning of June 16, Polish police announced the detention of the second person involved in the case, also a Belarusian citizen.

Shortly before the murder, the artist reported threats

A few days before his death, Skrepetsky held a performance in Berlin dedicated to Russia Day.

About an hour before the murder, the artist wrote on his Telegram channel that the action had caused a negative reaction among Russian nationalists and that he was receiving threats.

The motive for the crime has not yet been officially announced. The investigation is being conducted by the Lublin District Prosecutor's Office and Polish intelligence services. Among the versions being considered, Polish media mention a possible connection between the murder and the artist’s social and political activities.
