Trump threatens strikes on Iran if he “doesn’t like” the deal

US President Donald Trump has threatened further military action against Iran if he “does not like” the memorandum. He said this at the G7 summit in France on June 17, write Reuters and Sky News .

"This is a memorandum of understanding. If I don't like it, we'll go back to shooting them and dropping bombs on their heads. If they don't behave, we'll go right back to dropping bombs," Trump said.

As Sky News notes, this happened shortly after Trump reiterated that he considered the agreement “a great deal for many reasons.”

According to the American president, the agreement between the two countries should not be considered final. In addition, the signing of the document does not imply the immediate lifting of sanctions against Iran, Trump added.

Earlier, Bloomberg and Al Arabiya TV channel published a draft memorandum of understanding consisting of 14 points, which Washington and Tehran are going to sign on June 19 in Switzerland.

The document provides for a ceasefire, including in Lebanon, for 60 days with the possibility of its extension to reach a final agreement on Iran's nuclear program.

During these 60 days, Iran must lift the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz and remove the mines. The US must lift its naval blockade of Iran within 30 days and withdraw its troops within 30 days of reaching a final agreement.

Iran confirms in the document that it will “never produce nuclear weapons.” The parties agreed that all issues related to the nuclear program, including the fate of enriched uranium, will be considered in the final agreement. If achieved, the United States will commit to working with regional partners to develop a plan for the reconstruction and economic development of Iran, providing at least $300 billion in funding, and to lift “all types of sanctions,” including UN Security Council resolutions and IAEA decisions.

In addition, the United States is committed to unlocking Iran's frozen assets and making them fully available for Tehran's use. At the same time, the United States, after signing the memorandum, that is, until the completion of negotiations on the nuclear program, will actually suspend sanctions against Iran in the oil sector.

The Iranian news agency Tasnim, citing a source in the Iranian negotiating team, claims that the text of the memorandum published in the press has many inaccuracies, for example, in the paragraph about the Strait of Hormuz. No other details were provided in the message.
